Tony Rojas

Office Administrator & Project Assistant

Anthony is a natural helper who enjoys identifying ways to assist those in need.

Anthony and his brother and two sisters were raised in Chicago by their mother. He began his education in an overcrowded school in an underserved area of the city but was recommended by a teacher to attend the Ted Lenart Regional Gifted Center and was awarded a spot there as part of a selective enrollment process. The stark contrast between the attention he was able to receive in his new school instilled in him the importance of small classroom sizes and showed him the great work teachers can do when given the tools they need.

Anthony studied English and Social Justice at Roosevelt University and, upon graduating, gained experience in operations and team dynamics working in administration for a global investment banking firm and in property management for a local commercial real estate firm. Through these positions, he came to understand the importance of a detail-oriented mindset and of maintaining an atmosphere of open communication that he believes transcends the workplace and that he’s taken into all aspects of his life.

Anthony put this newfound mindset—along with his passion for helping others—to the test by working with Famous Fido’s Rescue & Adoption Alliance. Beginning as a volunteer, he soon was asked to join the organization as an administrative assistant and used the opportunity to host two fundraisers for the rescue. This was the beginning of his passion for mixing event planning with social good. He was also able to learn from the rescue what it means to be part of a mission-driven organization that strives to help others above all else.

In 2020, Anthony moved to Philadelphia with his partner, Taylor, when she was awarded a fellowship with the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge. Not too long after moving, they both began to feel drawn to the city’s energy, diversity, and opportunity and are currently taking steps towards making Philadelphia their long-term home.

Anthony’s personal background, experience in operations, and natural tendency towards augmenting social good make him a bright force in the world of mission-driven organizations like Bloom. In his spare time, he enjoys writing fiction, exercising (recently participating in the Rothman 8k as part of the Philadelphia marathon), and making music at home with his “band” which consists of him and his twin tabbies, Rosalita and Fernando.
