At Bloom, our experience is grounded in the classroom, in schools, and in organizations striving for social good. Just as Bloom’s Taxonomy shapes classroom instruction, we believe that organizational planning provides a taxonomy for change. We combine content and practitioner expertise with a thorough understanding of the competitive and dynamic landscape in which our clients operate. We specialize in the following planning services, which may involve any of the discrete services included to meet a client’s needs.

Comprehensive Strategic Planning

Bloom’s strategic planning model, developed through partnering with dozens of mission-driven organizations, includes the following core stages:

  1. Research (intra-organizational and environmental)
  2. Alignment & Visioning
  3. Detailed Planning
  4. Governance & Management
  5. Accountability

Executed thoughtfully and purposefully, each stage undergirds operational readiness for change and growth: The process of planning itself transforms clients into the leaders and organizations they aspire to be.

School Assessment, Design & Growth Planning

With over two decades of experience in K-12 education, Bloom’s founder has built a team that specializes in helping schools improve and grow to meet the needs of students, staff, and families. We provide school performance audits; organizational, environmental, and market scans; improvement planning; and growth planning for schools and education management organizations. Our school planning work includes many elements from our strategic planning process, with additional practitioner expertise in planning school design, human capital, technology and data management, shared (back office) services, community and family relations, financial controls and modeling, and development.

Leadership & Strategic Advising

Bloom helps organizations manage leadership transitions and governance reforms. Through skilled meeting facilitation and use of assessment tools, Bloom empowers leadership to align around a shared vision and planning process. We help organizations govern better by developing board self-knowledge and improvement plans. We support leadership to manage more effectively through targeted professional development and coaching on organizational dynamics. We also offer short-term leadership advising on organizational identity and crisis management challenges.

Organizational Audit & Program Evaluation

Bloom collaborates with ImpactED to study and audit organizations using mixed research methods to evaluate program implementation and impact. Quantitative methods include survey design administration, coding, and analysis and evaluation of publicly accessible and client-sourced data. Qualitative methods include interviews, focus groups, and observation. Recent work has included third-party evaluation of 21st Century Community Learning Centers grants.

Market & Environmental Research

Bloom’s team of experienced researchers provides in-depth data and analysis on the competitive landscape in which your school or nonprofit organization operates. We answer questions related to market size, demographic trends, field performance, comparison organizations, school feasibility, and sector openings. This research positions organizations to pursue mission-consistent strategies with the highest potential impact.

Bloom planners also help clients with staff professional development, charter school applications, fundraising strategy, and curriculum design. We are committed to being compassionate, practical, problem-solving idea buddies.

Thank you, thank you. I cannot express how much I appreciated your thoughtfulness, wisdom, and the way you managed the meeting. It made such a difference for all to feel that they were being heard and to manage discussion of possibly contentious issues.
